At Recycle Your Electricals, run by Material Focus, accessible from recycleyourelectricals.org.uk one of our main priorities is ensuring our online services and resources are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or technology.

Joint Trade Associations Contracts Limited (JTAC), operating under the brand name Material Focus, is responsible for these websites and for the purpose of this statement is referred to as “We”, “Us”, or “Material Focus”.

Using Our Websites

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our websites. For example, that means you should be able to:

We also endeavor to keep our content written in clear, easy-to-understand language.

Material Focus is committed to making its websites accessible in accordance with recognized web standards.

Our websites are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-Accessible Content

We actively work to maintain high standards of accessibility across all pages, but we are aware of certain limitations:

  • Video Content Audio Descriptions: Our videos do not currently feature a dedicated audio description channel alongside the primary audio track. Users with severe visual impairments may miss visual contextual information conveyed within some video material. (Fails WCAG 2.1 Success Criterion 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative, and Criterion 1.2.5 Audio Description).

We are continually evaluating options to improve accessibility across all rich media formats.

How We Test Our Websites

To ensure our digital platforms remain accessible and user-friendly, our websites undergo formal audits conducted by independent specialists at the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC). These audits combine expert technical evaluations with real-world user testing carried out by individuals with lived experience of disabilities using assistive technologies.
